A lookup is a request for information from Neolace, similar to a **formula** in a spreadsheet program like Excel. A *lookup expression* like `this.ancestors().count()` is evaluated using the most up to date data, and it results in a *lookup value* like `5` which is then embedded in the entry or displayed to the user as requested.
